Who? Us?

The demagogues on Fox, Instapundit, Free Republic, et al continue to pander to the mouth-breathing, knuckle-dragging set. Rest assured when something awful happens, they will claim innocence.

Is Google synonymous with Big Brother?

Strength in numbers ...

Interesting article asserts that Android may win the mobile OS war by virtue of it being available on multiple handsets, unlike the iPhone OS which is only available on iPhone and iTouch devices. By appearing on a plurality of mobile handsets, from Motorola's Droid to its Cliq and the Samsung Behold II, the ubiquity of the OS is assured.

I am both sad and amused

Doug Hoffman and the perils of Tea Baggery

From the HuffPost's Chris Kelly: "Doug Hoffman lost his election last night. He was supported by a plurality of talk radio entertainers, and a majority of former half-term governors of Alaska, but it wasn't enough. An obscure quirk of constitutional law says you also need votes from voters."

This is arch, a little snide and quite funny. It's also a completely accurate dissection of how Rush Limbaugh and his crowd disseminate false and laughable information.

Delusions of Grandeur

The Far Right thinks it may have won last night, but all the elections showed us is that adage: All politics is local. Take last night's surprise upset in NY-23. After more than a century of Republican representation, the Tea Bag crowd basically gave the seat to the Democratic Party.

Or Christie's win in NJ. It's always been about jobs and taxes in the Garden State, two things Corzine seems to have forgotten about.

Joe Wilson has judgment problems

Irony alert? Karmic justice? From TPM: "'The families, schools, and businesses fighting against the H1N1 flu pandemic deserve better than House Republicans' reckless, knee jerk partisanship and just-say-no approach to helping prepare for this national emergency,' DCCC spokesperson Ryan Rudominer said in a statement released Oct. 27.

Wilson has been personally touched by the H1N1 virus. Last week, he sent an email to his district announcing his wife, Roxanne, had been diagnosed with the swine flu and urging his constituents to get vaccinated."

On this $hit list ...

From Foreign Policy: "Six years ago, we decided it was time to systematically examine the accusations flying from all directions. After subjecting human rights organizations' work to a barrage of statistical tests, we found that everyone was right. Yes, the watchdogs have biases. But they might make those groups more effective at pushing the human rights cause. Whichever side of the fence you fall on, there's no denying it: There's a politics to human rights."

This is an issue the ignoramuses on the far Right can't seem to get their heads around.

ProPublica dissects the stimulus numbers

Interesting stuff: "Minority contractors and urban advocacy groups have pressed the administration to ensure that African-Americans, Hispanics and other minority groups share in the stimulus money. Unemployment for blacks (15.4 percent in September) [10] and Hispanics (12.7 percent) [11] has been much higher than the rate for whites (9 percent). On some Native American reservations, the jobless rate surpassed 75 percent last winter."
